Arlington Accepting Proposals For New Cultural District
The town is seeking ideas for art and events within the district, which spans Mass. Ave. from Capitol Square to the Civic Block.

ARLINGTON, MA – Arlington’s newly designated Cultural District is delighted to announce a town-wide Call For Ideas to seek proposals for art and events within the District. The Call For Ideas is open to anyone over the age of 10 who lives, works or plays in Arlington. The Cultural District spans a walkable stretch along Massachusetts Avenue from East Arlington’s Capitol Square to the Civic Block in Arlington Center.
The Call For Ideas seeks to build more interest and excitement in the area on Mass Ave between East Arlington and Arlington Center, specifically from Orvis Street to Avon Place. A key link between neighborhoods and the geographic center of the Cultural District, the open space there is ready for new art, new events and new ideas.
The Arlington Cultural District is a hub for arts, culture, dining and entertainment; it is a lively, bustling
area supported by an active and welcoming community. East Arlington is a diverse neighborhood with
art galleries, a movie theater and unique shops and restaurants nestled alongside generous open space
at nearby Spy Pond. Arlington Center boasts a wide array of cultural assets like the Arlington Center for
the Arts, the Cyrus Dallin Museum and the Regent Theatre, as well as dozens of restaurants, cafes and
retail shops. Within the boundaries of the Cultural District, annual events such as Porchfest, Romancing
the Square and Feast of the East showcase Arlington’s beauty, history and contemporary arts and
culture.
