Arlington AD Resigns Following GoPonders Tweet Investigation

Police found "no evidence of unlawful access" to the GoPonders account, which posted an inappropriate image of AD Melissa Dlugolecki.

ARLINGTON, MA – Arlington Athletic Director Melissa Dlugolecki has resigned following an investigation into the alleged hack of the Arlington High School athletics Twitter account, which posted an inappropriate picture of Dlugolecki in January. Police last month determined there was "no evidence of unlawful access" to the @GoPonders account and closed the investigation May 22.

Superintendent Kathleen Bodie wrote in an email to the school community this week that she had accepted Dlugolecki's resignation, according to the Arlington Advocate. The closure of the police investigation and Dlugolecki's resignation "bring this difficult chapter regarding the Athletics Twitter account to an end," Bodie wrote.

The tweet, sent from the account Jan. 1, was deleted and the account was taken down. Officials originally said the tweet was not a real picture of Dlugolecki and she did not post it, but evidence suggested both the picture and phone that posted it were in Dlugolecki's possession at the time of the tweet, according to police.
