Arlington Bus Priority Pilot Gets Nod From Select Board

A bus lane will be in place on Mass Ave. starting Oct. 9.

ARLINGTON, MA – The Arlington Select Board unanimously endorsed a priority bus pilot program Wednesday, allowing it to move forward. Starting Oct. 9, a temporary bus lane will be put in place on Massachusetts Avenue from Lake Street to the Alewife Brook Parkway.

The lane will impact 19 parking spots. According to local transportation blog Word on the Street, other changes include moving the bus stop near the Capitol Theatre to the other side of Lake Street, making switches to the signals at the Alewife Brook Parkway and removing the curb extension at Lafayette Street.

Much of these changes will only be in effect from 6-9 a.m., but the signals at Alewife Brook Parkway and the bus stop change will last throughout the month, Word on the Street reported. The pilot will end Nov. 12.
