Arlington Cultural Council Awards 17 Grants Worth $12,200
The money goes toward funding cultural programs in Arlington.

The Arlington Cultural Council has announced its grant recipients for 2016.
In total, the group awarded 17 grants worth $12,200 to support a wide variety of cultural programs in Arlington, it announced in its website. Not every program was awarded the same amount, ranging from $200 to $1,500, with an average grant of $717.

- The Robbins Library: Present the Arlington Author Salon series, celebrating local published authors.
- From India to Walden Pond (Yogi Shridhare): Connecting Indian devotional music with the works of Thoreau through reading and performance.
- Music to Cure MS: Charity concert to support the Accelerated Cure Project.
- Dance Caliente (Raul Nieves): A ballroom dance program at the Arlington Senior Center.

The Arlington Cultural Council is part of the Local Cultural Councils network, which serves all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth and grants over $2 million in grants yearly. The grants were awarded to organizations based on decisions made by a board of appointed volunteers.
