Arlington High School Takes First Step for State Funding

Arlington High School is invited into the Massachusetts School Building Authority eligibility phase.

ARLINGTON, MA—Those hoping for a re-building of Arlington High School rejoiced Wednesday, as the high school took the next step in the process for state funding.

The Massachusetts School Building Authority(MSBA) announced Thursday that Arlington High School was voted into the eligibility phase of the organization's construction project financing system. MSBA officials will work with the school district to determine financial and community readiness, during a 270-day period.

“The Board has voted Arlington High School into the Eligibility Period,” said Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg in a press release. “The MSBA will continue to work collaboratively with the local officials to ensure the best outcome for the District’s students.”

Arlington will now have to complete preliminary requirements pertaining to local approval and formation of a school building committee. If those requirements are completed in a timely manner, Arlington will become eligible for invitation into the feasibility study phase of the pipeline.

“The Eligibility Period is a critical step in the MSBA’s process of evaluating potential work on Arlington High School,” stated MSBA CEO Maureen Valente in a statement. “We look forward to our continued partnership with the District as it enters the Eligibility Period.”
