Arlington Opens Town Honor Award Nominations

Awards are given annually to citizens who have "made outstanding contributions to the enrichment and advancement" of the town.

ARLINGTON, MA – The Arlington Select Board is pleased to announce the presentation of Town Honor Awards to citizens who have made outstanding contributions to the enrichment and advancement of the Town of Arlington.

From time-to-time the Town has recognized individuals with the Robbins Award for significant contributions in social, cultural, educational, political or philanthropic service; the Cyrus Dallin Award for outstanding and meritorious service in the area of education, art, culture or philanthropy that meets human needs; and the Samuel Wilson Award for considerable and exceptional contributions in the area of patriotism, business, or government.

In addition, a Town employee will be recognized with the Joseph P. Greeley award for outstanding public service above and beyond the call of duty. The Awards Committee that includes Jack Hurd, Kate Leary, Clarissa Rowe, Jeff Russell, and Elaine Shea have been appointed by the Select Board to facilitate the nomination process.

The public is welcome to participate by submitting the nomination of individuals that meet the award criteria. Nomination criteria, procedures, and forms can be obtained at the Select Board’s office or from the Town web site at arlingtonma.gov/selectmen.

The Award presentations will be made on Thursday, November 29th at 7:30 PM in the Robbins Memorial Auditorium. Nominations must be received at the Select Board’s office by Friday, September 28 th at 12:00 PM. For more information contact Jack Hurd at jdhurd27@gmail.com.
