Arlington Police Chief Chosen to Lead MBTA Police

Arlington Police Chief Frederick Ryan has been picked as the next chief of the MBTA Transit Police, according to the Boston Globe.

However, members of the MBTA’s board of directors still need to work on the details of his contract before his appointment is approved, according to the report.

Ryan, an Arlington native, became Arlington police chief in 1999.

According to the report, Ryan would make $188,000 per year, about $18,000 more per year than his current deal.

Former MBTA Transit Police Chief Paul MacMillan retired on Nov. 1. The MBTA would want Ryan to start Feb. 1, according to the report.
