Arlington Police Honor Fallen Trooper with Mourning Bands
Arlington Police Captain Richard Flynn commented on Wednesday's tragic death of State Trooper Thomas Clardy.

ARLINGTON, MA—In honor of Massachusetts State Trooper Thomas Clardy, Arlington Police officers will be wearing mourning bands on their badges.
Trooper Clardy, 44, was killed in the line of duty while working on the Mass Pike in Charlton on Wednesday.Arlington Police, along with many other area police departments, will don a black mourning band on their badges in honor of their fallen fellow officers.
"It was a tragic, tragic event," Arlington Police Captain Richard Flynn told Patch."We're not only upset as law enforcement, but as people too. He leaves behind a wife and six kids. It was a tragic incident that absolutely could have been avoided. Our hearts go out to the family and our fellow brothers and sisters."
Clardy, who was also a US Marine Corps veteran, leaves behind a wife and six children.
David Njuguna, 30, of Webster is being charged after striking Clardy's stationary vehicle. Njuguna suffered serious injuries and is at UMass Medical Center.
