Arlington To Remove 12 Trees On Mass Ave
Overnight work late this week could slow traffic on Mass. Ave.

ARLINGTON, MA – The Arlington Department of Public Works on Monday announced the removal of 12 trees on Massachusetts Avenue early Friday, June 1. Work will begin around midnight and include the removal of 11 trees on the south side of the road and a tree at Uncle Sam Park.
Eleven of the trees are being removed due to gas leaks in the area, according to the town. National Grid has performed repairs and is working with the DPW to make funds available to replant them. The 12th tree, at Uncle Sam Park on the corner of Mass. Ave. and Mystic Street, is being removed following damage to its root system during recent renovation.
Traffic will remain open and a police detail will be on-site to direct vehicles. Work is expected to take one night to complete, but may resume Friday night if necessary.
