Arlington Reservoir Work Could Begin Next Year

Officials unveiled the Master Plan for reservoir renovations at a meeting this week.

ARLINGTON, MA – Construction on the Arlington Reservoir could start next spring, officials said at a public meeting this week. A two-phase Master Plan to renovate the reservoir, which includes improvements to the beach and parking, trails and the environment, was unveiled April 3.

According to the Arlington Advocate, the Community Preservation Committee has allotted $991,000 for phase one, which will focus on the pump house and perimeter trail. Planning and design can begin in July if the project is approved at the Town Meeting this month.

That means work on the pump house could begin next March to be ready by the summer season. Phase two of the project would include improvements to the trail, bathing beach, a new playground and environmental additions, the Advocate reported. It is expected to cost about $3.3 million, with $2 million expected to be set aside by the Capital Planning Committee.
