Arlington Residents Targeted In Package Delivery Scam
Police warned residents about a texting scam claiming to be a package delivery notification.
ARLINGTON, MA — A texting scam claiming to be a package delivery notification has hit Arlington residents, according to a post on the Arlington Police Department's Facebook page. Police shared a story warning about the scam, and some residents commented sharing screenshots of fake FedEx texts.
Here's how the scam works: if you click the link in the text message, you'll be asked to take a customer satisfaction survey, according to How-To Geek. After answering a few questions, you'll be given the option to claim an "expensive" product, provided you give them your credit card information and address.
This signs you up for a two-week trial to the scam company, which will then charge you $98.95 and send you a new supply of the product you selected each month, according to How-To Geek.
