Arlington Restaurant Bounces Back From Fire With New Name
Arlington mainstay Shanghai Village has reopened as Taipei-Tokyo over a year after it was damaged in a fire.
ARLINGTON, MA — A decades-old Arlington restaurant is back in business over a year after a two-alarm fire put its future in jeopardy. Shanghai Village has reopened under the name Taipei-Tokyo, according to YourArlington.
The Mass. Ave. restaurant was damaged in a fire in May 2018. It first opened nearly 40 years ago.
The Select Board granted a license to open over the summer to Andy Lian, one of the owners of Shanghai Village. It was unknown at the time when exactly the restaurant would reopen.
