Arlington Seeking Resident Input On Veterans Memorial Park
The current site in Monument Square is in need of repairs and updates to be suitable for public ceremonies, according to the town.
ARLINGTON, MA — Veterans' Services Director Jeffrey Chunglo is inviting residents to attend public meetings about the development of a Veterans Memorial Park. Discussions will include a review of the existing site, requirements for the park and possible alternate locations.
The current site in Monument Square is in need of repairs and updates to be suitable for public ceremonies, according to the town. The existing Honor Roll, which acknowledges Arlington residents who have served in the military, was dedicated in 1999.
The new Honor Roll will include nearly 11,000 Arlington veterans, including 3,000 names that need to be added, as well as space for names in the future. A memorial for each branch of service and tributes to POW/MIA, Medal of Honor recipients and Gold Star families will be added as well.
