Arlington Special Town Meeting Backs 3 Recreational Pot Shops

The meeting also struck down two amendments placing limits on recreational shops and one amendment increasing licenses.

ARLINGTON, MA – A Special Town Meeting on Wednesday voted to support three recreational marijuana shops in Arlington. The vote was 177-20-2, according to YourArlington.

The meeting struck down two amendments placing additional limits on recreational shops and one amendment increasing licenses. The town's proposed rules for such businesses include one shop in each of its three business districts, to open on a staggered basis starting next year.

Measures that also received approval include a 3 percent recreational marijuana excise tax, $1.25 million for changes to the DPW Yard and an expansion of the Rainbow Commission. See the full list from YourArlington.
