Arlington Students Score Well on MCAS Tests

District performs better than statewide average; Brackett tops local elementary schools.

Arlington students received high marks on the latest Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) tests, according to results released earlier this week.

The town's public school students, as a whole, placed above the state average on every grade-level test, well-above on most, in terms of the number of students who achieved the advanced/above proficient level.

Overall, 35 percent of Arlington students reached the advanced/above proficient level on the English language arts tests, compared to 16 percent statewide. On the mathematics tests, 40 percent of the town's students hit the top level, compared to 26 percent statewide.
