Arlington's 41st annual Town Day celebrations begin Friday night with Town Night at 5 p.m. and are set to feature train rides, pony rides, moon bounces, face painting, the ArtMobile and food, and, of course, fireworks. Oh and there will be plenty of food vendors among the 200 slated to show up on Saturday.
Events will take place until 7:30 p.m., and the fireworks display is set to take place between 7:30 and 8 p.m., or around dusk.

More than 200 booth vendors are slated to show up Saturday, including the first ever Town Day Beer Garden on Central Street. Aeronaut Brewery will be pouring their craft beers from 11 a.m. (It's noon somewhere?) until 3 p.m. The brewery said it will donate $1 from every beer sold to the Arlington Commission on Arts and Culture.
The Town Day Road Race also known as the Walter V Moynihan run will be Saturday and will start and end at the high school. It's a 2.7-mile course that heads down Mass Ave and then returns on the Bike Path. It begins at 8:30 a.m. and is open to all ages. The Run, coordinated by the Arlington Recreation Department, will benefit Arlington’s youth activities. The fee is $20.00 and may be paid at the Arlington Recreation Department or on the day of the run starting at 7:30 a.m.

Friends of the Robbins Library will hold their annual book sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the library parking lot and in the library’s lower level Community Room. Make a purchase and get a free raffle ticket to win a jar of honey from the library’s third-floor bees.
Arlington Fire Fighters will provide fire safety demonstrations in the “Smoke House”, a 3-room trailer designed to teach children about fire hazards in the home from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Safety instructors will take groups of 6 children through the kitchen, living room and bedroom, asking them to identify safety hazards. Then, theater “smoke” is put into the bedroom and the safety instructor shows them how to get out safely. Demonstrations are behind the library. The S.A.F.E., Student Awareness of Fire Education, instructors will discuss safety and hand out S.A.F.E. and Fire Prevention brochures. Firefighter boots will be around the booth to collect donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Look for Officer Hogan and K9 Eiko in the Robbins Library parking lot.
