Arlington Town Meeting Votes No Action on Citizen Zoning Articles

Arlington Town Meeting voted no action on Articles 14, 15 and 16 Wednesday night.

ARLINGTON, MA—Arlington Town Meeting voted no action on three of the citizen-proposed zoning articles Wednesday night.

During the second session of Town Meeting, members voted no action on articles 14, 15 and 16, which aim to place controls on residential development. The articles were proposed by John Worden, Wynelle Evans and a group of registered voters.

Article 14 would have made it so that the side wall of a new or altered house should be at least 30 feat from the nearest wall of any adjoining dwelling.

“In the first two nights of town meeting, we have seen every attempt to further the intent of the master plan by imposing very modest controls on residential zoning shot down. And yet, we have seen the infinitely more complex mixed-use zoning regulations passed,” Evans stated to the Advocate.
