Arlington Welcomes Six New Firefighters
The fire department announced the addition of six new recruits this week.

ARLINGTON, MA — The Arlington Fire Department recently welcomed six recruits who graduated Friday, Jan. 10 from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy. The 35-recruit class is the 279th to graduate from the Academy's 50-day Career Recruit Firefighter Training Program.
The newest additions to the Arlington Fire Department are Andrew Flynn, Fidel Noguera, Mikkel Flynn, Mitch Cummings, Jon Byrne and Andrew Nadeau.
In addition to containing and controlling fires, recruits at the Mass. Fire Academy learn how to respond to emergencies such as carbon monoxide and gas leaks, car crashes, stalled elevators and people who have fallen through ice.

"These recruits were put through a rigorous training program that provides them with the basic skills and tools they need to perform their jobs effectively and safely," Arlington Fire Chief Kevin Kelly said in a statement.
