Arlington Zoning Bylaw Amendments Public Hearing Scheduled for March 21
Arlington Town Meeting begins on April 25.

ARLINGTON, MA—Arlington could be in for some zoning bylaw changes when Town Meeting begins in April.
The Town of Arlington has set a public hearing regarding the proposed zoning bylaw changes for March 21 at the Central School located at 27 Maple St. The Arlington Redevelopment board has sponsored five articles, and ten registered voters have submitted seven.
Town Meeting will begin on April 25.
All of those articles will be discussed at the Public Hearing. Here's a rundown of the articles proposed by the Redevelopment Board:
Article 6: To add definitions for Mixed Use, Artisanal Fabrication, Artistic/Creative Production and Building Step Back.
Article 7: To allow reductions of the parking requirement by special permit with a plan for transportation demand management
Article 8: To amend definitons of Basement, Cellar, Attic, Story, Half Story and Gross Floor Area.
Article 9: To increase the open space requirement in R0, R1 and R2 zones.
Article 10: To allow two 10 foot driveways, and limit driveway slope to 15% maximum except by special permit
Here are the articles proposed by Wynelle Evans, John L. Worden and ten registered voters:
Article 11: To require garages be located 10 feet beyond the front yard setback for single family, two-family and duplexes.
Article 12: To limit the exception for rear yard setbacks to undersized lots.
Article 13: To expand the area counted as part of Gross Floor Area.
Article 14: To modify the side yard setback requirement to require 30 feet between buildings.
Article 15: To require a special permit for alterations or replacements of more than 750 square feet or 50% of the building’s gross floor area.
Article 16: To change the way building height is calculated.
Article 17: To increase area that counts toward a half story.
