Arlington's Oct. 19 Special Town Meeting Warrant

ARLINGTON, MA — Arlington's Special Town Meeting is quickly approaching, and some big-ticket items are on the warrant for the Oct. 19 Special Town Meeting.

Here's a look at some of the most notable warrant articles on the ballot.

Article 2

This article will determine whether the Town will be allowed to design, acquire and construct a temporary classroom space at the Ottoson Middle School.

Article 3

This article will determine if the Town will appropriate a sum of money for the expansion of the Thompson school

Article 6

This article will determine the town's ability to establish a "vacant commercial property registry," requiring property owners with vacancies to register such vacancies with the town and follow minimum safety and maintenance requirements

Article 11

This article will determine whether the town will vote to amend the zoning bylaws to institute a 500-foot buffer zone between proposed medical marijuana treatment centers and schools and prevent a facility to be located within the same building or structure as an early education child care program, creating a buffer of 1,000 feet between the facility and the early childcare program.
