Arlington's Robbins Farm Park Renovations Mean Limited Access To Park

ARLINGTON, MA — Construction fences could go up as early as tomorrow around Robbins Farm Park, the town announced today. Look for fencing and signage to be installed around project areas in the park, and access to park use limited.
The project - headed up by Arlington Recreation and Arlington Park and Recreation Commission - is slated to be completed by fall 2017, except for the baseball/multi-purpose field, which is expected to be open around Spring 2018 so that the grass has time to grow there.
One of the main objectives for park renovation is provide improved access for people with disabilities visiting the park.

"The path leading up to the seated overlook will be re-graded and brought into ADA compliance," said the town in a news release.
Look for renovations to the basketball court, path work connecting cooperative garden up to the basketball court. And a special nod to the family who actually donated the land to the town for a park in the first place.

The town hired M.J. Cataldo of Needham to do the work. A majority of the funding is being provided through the Community Preservation Act, with additional support from the Friends of Robbins Farm Park.
What does the renovation and construction mean when it comes to using the park this summer? The town said in many cases it means no park time, especially when it comes to the off leash dog park.
Also note the Friends of Robbins Farm Park will not be hosting their annual fireworks celebration on July 4th.
