Here are a few examples of the types of calls police responded to this week.

ARLINGTON, MA — The following is a sample of the types of calls the Arlington Police received over the weekend. Just because someone reported an incident a certain way doesn't mean that's the way it actually panned out.
Tuesday, Jan. 9
This is not a bus stop, this is my house: Police responded to a report of a suspicious person on Gardner Street. A Gardner Street resident told police he saw a man come out from behind a house on Gardner Street walk inside resident's front mudroom. When the caller confronted the man, he said he was looking for the bus stop and ran off. A man matching the description was later reported in the area.
Creepy: A Lombard Road resident told police she was inside her home when she heard a noise in the backyard just after noon. She checked the doors and returned to her bedroom when she heard someone trying to open the front door. The suspect was banging and shouting and when the woman looked out her window she saw a white man, 30 to 40 years old, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and black pants. Police searched the area and could not find anyone.

Wednesday, Jan. 10
What happened to the bonds?: A Milton Street resident came into the station to report that more than 150 of his US Treasury bonds were missing.

Thursday, Jan. 11
The guilt was eating at her? A woman came into the station to report that the day before on Broadway while she was driving she clipped the drivers-side mirror of a parked car.
Friday, Jan. 12
Snowy: Someone called to report complications with snow removal on Court Street.
School staff member driving a car hits student: The Ottoson Middle School principal told police that a student was either pushed or fell from the sidewalk into a moving vehicle driven by a faculty member Thursday on Acton Street. The driver told police they were driving slowly because of the amount of students and saw a group walking on the sidewalk. They told police they heard a thump but never felt anything. The student suffered a sprained ankle and did not think they were pushed maliciously and believed it was an accident.
Car on fire: Someone called to report their car was on fire on Upland Road West. When police and fire officials arrived, the fire was out. The person who called told police he had turned on his antique black Buick and gone back inside. When he came back out, the car was filled with smoke and the car was on fire. Arlington Fire officials said they were unsure what caused the fire and the man said the vehicle was fine just the day before.
Saturday, Jan. 13
Armed Robbery: Police responded to a report of an armed robbery on Margaret Street at 5:30 p.m. Originally it was reported to be near Thorndike Field and then they reported it was actually Magnolia Field near Magnolia Street.
Sunday, Jan. 14
Don't tailgate: Someone called to report a crash near Massachusetts Ave and Mystic Street. The driver of the first car told police she was stopped in the middle lane when a car struck the rear of her vehicle. The driver of the second car told police he did not have enough time to stop and hit the first car. He was cited for following too closely.
Crash: Someone was injured in a crash near the corner of Mass Ave and Mystic Street.
Monday, Jan. 15 (MLK Day)
Can't we all just get along? Someone reported an assault and battery at 2:26 p.m. on Mass Ave.
Strange: Someone called to report something strange near the corner of Wilbur and Williams Street.
Tuesday, Jan. 16
Fire? Police responded to two reports of fire, one on Cheviot Road and one on Mystic.
Dead: Someone called police to report a dead animal on Baker Road.
Which came first? The road name or the issue?: Police responded to a report of a water leak on Lake Street.
Wednesday, Jan. 17
Something strange in the neighborhood? Police responded to a report of a 'suspicious condition' on Webster Street just after 9 a.m.
Shoplifting: Just before 2 p.m. someone reported a shoplifter at a business on Mass Ave. Earlier in the day, at 12:02 police had responded to a separate call about shoplifting by concealing on Mass Ave.
Overdose: Just before midnight someone reported an overdose on Dartmouth Street.
