While watching NECN the other morning, I saw the interview of two survivors. One was on a lower floor and escaped the tower he was in. Without a doubt, he considered himself blessed.

It was the other individual’s story though that caught my attention.
He regularly commuted from Massachusetts to his office on the 96th floor of one of the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center. But on that particular morning, he decided to leave an hour later than normal so that he could spend some time with his 4-year-old daughter at breakfast. When he finally arrived, he saw the gaping hole where his office had been—right where one of the hijacked planes had slammed into the building.

He would not have survived had he followed his normal morning routine.
It was one of those amazing tales that I’ve heard from time to time about fateful decisions being made on that 11th of September, but the remarkable thing for me was what he did afterward with his life.
He knew that he had been spared. However, that wasn’t enough. He felt inspired to think about ways that he could live in a more outward fashion—finding a way that would be of service to others. After two years, he left his employment and became a life coach focusing on helping people realize how important and life-changing each decision that we make is.
I think that we all have had those moments—intuitions or spiritual insights, if you will—when we felt led to go one way or the other in our lives. I know I have. And I also know that when I’ve followed them, I’ve seen the resultant blessings.
Now here we all are, 10 years later.
I hope and pray that those who lost loved ones on that day and on all the days that followed as a consequence, have found or will find the comfort and solace that they deserve.
