Cure for Crabby Cabin Fever

If you're like me, you've been inside since about Friday at noon - being trapped indoors with a rambunctious toddler can start to wear on the most patient of caregivers. Luckily, I discovered a few untapped tricks in the dresser.

At Christmas time, my mom gave us some Crayola "Magic" modeling clay. I was a litle wary of this magic stuff at first cause when I opened the packet it was VERY sticky. (I pictured scrubbing this out from underneath my and his fingernails with much whining from both of us.) But once i played with it a little, I realized it was the perfect craft for a snow day. It's neat, fun to play with, easy to clean up and, unless your child destroys it, you can dry it out and have a little clay model and memory of your day. (One note: The package warns that it can discolor surfaces, so I put down a plastic dinner mat as our workstation.)

Here's the crab we made. My little tasmanian devil destoryed it about 3 seconds after I took this pic. And I think he had the most fun tearing its head off and squishing its eyeballs into its skull then we did building the little guy. But still. It was fun. And anything that keeps a 2 year old interested in one activity for 20 minutes? That is kind of magic.
