Facebook Vs. Google+ (Plus) -- You Choose!

Two online warriors enter a epic battle for the loyal use of its fans only one will leave and be crowned king of social networking.

An epic battle has begun but not between good and evil. Two powerhouses on the web are going face to face in one of the most anticipated battles for social-networking supremacy.

Facebook: The most popular social network with 63 percent of the market share right now, according to dreamgrow.com. In its history, the social giant has taken down the previous market share winner MySpace.

Google: Well, everyone knows Google. It has a search engine market share of 83 percent, according to hitslink.com, and an amazing assortment of other services that they have perfected over the years.

Google has attempted to create a Facebook killer in the past but was not able to bring the product to market well enough to even dent the social giant’s seemingly impervious armor. It now looks like that is about to change.

With the introduction of the new service, Google Plus, it looks like they have a chance not only to dent the armor but possibly jar the sleeping giant awake and knock it on its heels. The service is still in "beta", meaning that it is in limited trial basis with a slow release of users onto its servers. Google has a long tradition of introducing services this way.

Google Plus was introduced on June 28 and went from 0 to 10 million users in 16 days, and 20 million in less than 3 weeks. The numbers are going to be increasing steadily and experts say that it will hit the top 10 (of what?) by August.

I've been using the service for a few weeks now as I was one of the lucky 20-plus million to get an invite and I have to say I love it. I am not the only one either. People are getting creative when it comes to expressing their love for the service. Check out this short video from EPIPHEO on youtube.com

Facebook may not be worried right this minute and may not have to, until Google comes knocking on the door with a few hundred million of its users following closely behind, but it should start to prepare for a smaller share at the very least.

Two things that Facebook has to think about are that on given day Google does over 300 million search requests. That’s a lot of face time with users and will result in people wanting to see and try the new social network for themselves. Also, Google plans to integrate all of the other services they offer to the public into Google Plus (Google Maps, Gmail, Google Apps, Google Web Albums, etc.). All of a sudden you see people using both, biding their time and waiting for their friends to jump on to the speeding Google train

The fate of the new entry to social networking is unknown at the moment but keep your eyes peeled and your clicking finger ready for more and more battles between the two gods of the internet.
