Playtime

How to keep a busy boy busy: my task of the week.

As a working mom, having a week to leisurely enjoy family time is really precious. Yesterday, the hubby, the wee one, and I went to the Stone Zoo. We debated about going after 5 for "Zoo Lights" - a real, live reindeer and lots of lights + Santa + some sort of animatronics display, I hear. But we decided to go by daylight instead and catch more of the animals. My son digs animals. At least the plastic kind. So we thought he might really enjoy the real ones.

After the zoo, we had a nice family meal at the Town Diner. Um, buttermilk fried chicken and a rootbeer on a Monday night, for no good reason? Count me in and don't tell my trainer. That was day one of Xmas vacation, so I really can't complain.

And I got the inside tip from my gal pals who stay at home with the babes, and know all the local hotspots to bring your kid when hanging out at the house starts to get old for both of you. Tip of the day today? Kidspace in Belmont.

A-may-zing.

I have the busiest toddler you could ever imagine. He's like a jack rabbit. Or the tazmanian devil. Or...I don't even know what. Share the perfect metaphor below and I'll give you a dollar. This kid tears across the room in a flash. There were so many toys, trains, cars, trikes, balls, tents, and playhouses in this Kidspace, that even my little tike could not play with them all.

Only one problem with Kidspace.  A whole lotta space. Not a whole lotta kids. My son paled around with a four-year old girl, whom he dutifully followed from toy to toy. But I could tell when she turned her attention to the pretend kitchen set, he was a little less than enthused.

So bring your busy boys to Kidspace, moms! Mine would love to play. It's $10, but it counts toward a $50 membership fee if you decide to become a regular. Seemed like a good deal to me. And if there were a few more playpals there next time, even better!
