BREAKING: Jimmy Carter Says Cancer Has Spread To Brain
The former president held a press conference Thursday in Atlanta.

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter said at a press conference Thursday in Atlanta that his cancer has spread to his brain.
The Carter Center released a statement on Aug. 12: “Recent liver surgery revealed that I have cancer that now is in other parts of my body. I will be rearranging my schedule as necessary so I can undergo treatment by physicians at Emory Healthcare. A more complete public statement will be made when facts are known, possibly next week.”

Jimmy Carter served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981. He was awarded the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize for work to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development.
