Bus Priority Pilot Coming To Arlington
The pilot program will be introduced at a public forum next month.

ARLINGTON, MA – The Arlington Department of Planning and Community Development and the MBTA will launch a bus priority pilot this fall. The pilot will test certain features of Bus Rapid Transit on MBTA bus routes along Massachusetts Avenue with the goal of creating a faster and more reliable commute for close to 5,000 bus riders and improving traffic conditions.
The pilot will operate on the eastbound side of Mass. Ave. from Pleasant Street to the Mystic Valley Parkway, Monday through Friday during the morning rush hour commute.
According to a town press release, the incorporation of BRT features is expected to save regular commuters about two weeks of travel time annually. It will also make rush hour travel times more predictable and encourage the use of public transit, which will cut down on overall traffic.
