It leans into documentaries, foreign and independent film, and National Theatre Live broadcasts — the kind of programming that only comes from people who genuinely love movies, not an algorithm optimizing for opening weekend. Comfortable seats, real popcorn, a house that's cared for the way a favorite neighborhood spot should be. Peter Siy and Ken Hastings have kept it alive through some genuinely hard years for independent theaters&nbsp; - through sheer stubborn devotion to the place, and it shows in every detail. It's won a Best of Boston award, and honestly, around here, that's basically a knighthood.
🏆 **Pick of the week: The Misanthrope — National Theatre Live** (1h46m) — Sandra Oh (*Killing Eve*) plays Alice, a brilliant novelist who's simply had it with the polite lies everyone else has agreed to live by — and pays dearly for saying so out loud, which, if you've ever spoken an inconvenient truth at a dinner party, you'll recognize immediately. It's a razor-sharp modern take on Molière, adapted by Martin Crimp (also behind the acclaimed *Cyrano de Bergerac*) and directed by Indhu Rubasingham, filmed live at London's National Theatre. School of Fashion Design

Celebrating over 90 years of excellence in fashion education, The School of Fashion Design is the only educational institution in New England dedicated exclusively to the study of fashion design. SFD provides students with a solid foundation in apparel design and construction, and the skills required for a successful career in fashion. Our technical Certificate program is taught by experts in the field of fashion design. Students may take courses toward the Certificate or on a class-by-class basis to fill professional education interests. For creatives and textile arts enthusiasts, SFD offers workshops in various fiber arts such as weaving, lace making, embroidery, millinery, upcycling, and more. As an SFD student, you will join a diverse community of emerging designers. Our studios are filled with recent high school graduates, students from nearby colleges enriching their education with fashion, and working professionals embarking on a new career path. SFD faculty and students are active partners in our local community, collaborating regularly with organizations and businesses through internships, exhibitions, field trips, and special events. Our reputation for excellence is on display each time our students show their work at fashion shows and exhibits throughout the year. With an SFD Certificate in Fashion Design, our alumni have enjoyed fashion careers with Adidas, Coldwater Creek, J. Jill, New Balance, PUMA, Ralph Lauren, Talbots, Timberland, TJX Companies, and more. Our alumni are designers and costumers for stage and screen, while others have found success launching their own label. Our varied class levels and flexible schedules are designed to meet the needs and profiles of all students.
