Come join a townwide commemoration of this land’s First Peoples!
To honor our country’s Native Americans and celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day, Arlington is sponsoring a celebration of Indigenous Peoples on Saturday, October 10, from 11am to 12:30 pm.
This free event for all ages—held at the Arlington Masonic Temple, 19 Academy Street, Arlington—features a fun and educational performance by the Red Hawk Singers and Dancers. Through song, dance, and teachings, the Red Hawk Singers and Dancers promote traditional Wampanoag values such as humility and respect, to create true connections between diverse cultures and communities.
Indigenous Peoples Day honors the past, present, and futures of Native peoples throughout the United States. This holiday recognizes the Indigenous communities that have lived on these lands for thousands of years, and the legacy and impact of colonialism on Native communities. It celebrates the cultures, contributions, and resilience of contemporary Native peoples.
Sponsored by the Cyrus Dallin Art Museum, Arlington Historical Society, Arlington Human Rights Commission, Old Schwamb Mill, Robbins Library, First Parish Unitarian Universalist of Arlington Indigenous Justice Working Group, this program is funded in part by a grant from the Arlington Commission for Arts and Culture, a local agency supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
