The women’s chorus, Cantilena, brings you “Illuminations: music of myth and meditation,” Sunday May 3rd at 4 pm, with spring Guest Conductor Carol Marton, Artistic Director of Koleinu, Boston’s Jewish Community Chorus. This eclectic musical assortment features “The First Runo,” an evocative setting of a Finnish creation myth by Einojuhani Rautavaara; several gems by J.S. Bach, including “Suscepit Israel” from the Magnificat and selections from “Jesu, meine Freude”; a gorgeous and serious set by Peter Schickele; Bebe Snyder’s remarkable “Missa Brevis,” magical reflections by Fauré and Joan Szymko and the wild ride of the “Telemarketing Blues.”
