12:00pm - Blazing The Trail: The O’Kalems in Ireland

In the early 1910’s the New York based Kalem Film Company made history by sending its leading filmmakers-director Sidney Olcott and screenwriter and lead actress Gene Gauntier-to County Kerry, in Ireland.

2:00pm - Family Affair (Buy Ticket Here)
Director, Chico Colvard, U.S.A., 2010
As a little boy, filmmaker Chico Colvard accidentally shot one of his sisters in the leg and, in so doing, blew the lid on a family secret. His father, an African American former GI who grew up in segregated Mississippi, had been sexually abusing his three sisters for years, unbeknownst to their mother, a German Jew.

4:15pm - Winding Roads (Buy Ticket Here)
The film follows a year in the life of Huda Abu Abied, a 19-year-old Bedouin girl from the Negev desert in Israel.  As a young independent woman, she refuses to adapt to the patriarchal traditional society back in her village. As a very concerned and politically aware individual, she feels compelled to fight for equal rights for her fellow Bedouins in light of their alienation and bitterness towards the Jewish state.

East Coast Premiere
The Bug Trainer is an internationally co-produced documentary about Ladislas Starewitch
(1882-1965), a pioneer of puppet animation and a contemporary of cinematography.  Starewitch was named one of the most mystical and controversial creators of the 20th C., a true ‘wizard’ and an ‘alchemist of animation’.

A compelling documentary film by Academy Award nominee Michele Ohayon about the power of love and the ability of humankind to rise above unimaginable suffering.  1943: Holland is under total Nazi Occupation.  When the Jews are being deported, Jack, his wife Manja, and his new love, Ina, find themselves living in the same barracks in a concentration camp.  When Jack’s wife objects to the relationship, in spite of their unhappy marriage, Jack and Ina resort to writing secret love letters which gives them the strength to survive the war.
