Get PLUGGED iN on the Robbins Library Lawn when Louise Grasmere with "Meeting Across the Water" presents an outdoor evening concert blending rural and urban blues, folk, gospel and jazz with a rich combination of lead and harmony vocals accompanied by piano, percussion, guitars and mandolin.
The group is made up of local legends: Louise Grasmere, lead vocals and percussion, a well-known Boston-area blues and jazz performer and recording artist, and frequent soloist with Arlington-based Mystic Chorale, Jonathan Singleton, on keyboards and vocals, the New England Conservatory's 2010 Gospel conductor of the year, and also known for his stirring shows every February with the Mystic Chorale. Fred Griffeth, lead vocalist with Fandango and The Family Jewels, has been singing in Boston vocal groups since the 1950's, and finally the great Eric Kilburn will be there on guitars, mandolin and vocals. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnics, lawn chairs and blankets to fully enjoy some cool summer music in a verdant setting. If it rains, concert will be held next door in Town Hall's Auditorium.
This program in the PLUGGED iN @ THE ROBBiNS series, targeted to 50+ adults, is made possible by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. Doors will open at 6:30pm for networking. The program will begin at 7:00pm. Free and open to the public.
