Reception for Arlington Photographers at Griffin Museum

Two Arlington photographers, Betty Stone and Ed Friedman, participated in the Photography Atelier 16 at the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester this Spring. The Atelier is a workshop to help emerging photographers develop and/or enhance their portfolios.

There will be a reception at the museum on September 6 from 6:30 - 8:30, where the work of these two photographers and all the other workshop participants can be seen. The show will be up from Sept. 6 to Sept. 23.

Ed Friedman's portfolio, 'Street Works: New York and Boston' presents photographs taken in New York City, Coney Island, and Downtown Boston. The images capture some 'decisive moments' that are the essence of street photography.

Stone is a keen fan of partner dancing, especially lindy hop and balboa, two fast-paced dances that developed with the rise of American jazz and the swing era music of the 1930’s and 1940’s. Not only does she find pure joy on the dance floor, but she delights in photographing her fellow dancers as well.

Her portfolio, 'Dancing Conversations,' portrays the active “conversations” between leader and follower as they dance.  She often gravitates to the dancers’ feet as they push against the floor.
