Friends of Robbins Library Annual Meeting present Silent Movie Shows with the 1923 silent movie “Safety Last” starring Harold Lloyd featuring
live piano accompaniment by Richard Hughes.
Pianist Richard Hughes will speak briefly about the
silent film days and then accompany a romantic-comedy-action film called "Safety Last" with live piano
accompaniment … just like it was done in the twenties. Come enjoy “Safety Last”, a feature film from the golden age of silent film.
Country boy (Harold Lloyd) intends to impress his sweetie by heading to the big city to find success. While
working as a clerk in a department store, he talks the manager into offering $1000 to anyone who can bring customers to the store. Harold arranges for his
friend (Billie), a human fly, to climb the outside of the building for the publicity stunt. But, on the big day, one particular cop is looking for him so Harold must start climbing until Billie can ditch the cop and take over for
Harold. Ditching the cop proves to be tougher than was thought and inexperienced Harold has to keep climbing to the next level.
