Seven more Arlington High School sports teams officially returned to action Thursday with the start of school now less than two weeks away.
The boys and girls' soccer teams and cross country teams, as well as crew, the girls' volleyball team and field hockey all took the field.
Arlington's football team, which started practice Monday, also strapped on pads and competed in contact drills for the first time, while the school's cheerleading squad, which began Monday with double sessions, already looked ready to compete.

Many teams were reporting large turnouts, including girls' soccer, which had 52 girls trying out for the varsity squad.
Cross country captains Quentin Stipp, Matt Berg, Max Zacher, Megan Hourican, Shayna Linov and Caroline Donovan said they all put in a lot of miles during the summer to get ready for the season. Stipp's coming off an impressive sophomore track campaign, where he ran under 10 minutes in the two-mile.

Most teams are holding a series of scrimmages in the coming weeks to get ready for the regular season.
The high school's golf team holds its first practice Monday.
