Father in Pool Incident Dies

A 39-year-old father who nearly drowned Saturday, Sept. 4, trying to save his 10-year-old son has died, according to a hospital spokesman.
Haranadh Gurajada died at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, spokesman Steve Danehy said Wednesday afternoon.
Gurajada nearly drowned at about 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 4, attempting to rescue his son, Saiyasawi Gurajada, who had fallen in the outdoor pool at the Old Colony Lane condominiums off Massachusetts Avenue.

Both father and son were eventually pulled from the 10-foot-deep pool by nearby residents, whom began life-sustaining procedures before emergency personnel arrived.
Gurajada was transported to Lahey Clinic via ambulance, while his son was taken to Children's Hospital in Boston with, what were believed to be, non life-threatening injuries.

Danehy said he could not release the time or cause of death by law. Gurajada had been listed in critical condition as of Thursday, Sept. 9.
