Hydrant Flushing Could Result in Low Pressure, Discolored Water

The  is flushing hydrants and checking street valves along Massachusetts Avenue in East Arlington as part of regular maintenance.

Officials said the work will last until Saturday between the Cambridge line and Pond Lane. Hydrants along the area will be opened, flower and have valves checked.

During maintenance, residents may experience temporary low water pressure or discolored, rusty water. Officials said residents who experience rusty water should note this is not an unsafe condition. If that's the case, try running the faucets until clean water starts coming out.

It is not advised to run hot water or do laundry until the water is clear.
