Last Minute Stops Propel Boys Lacrosse in Playoff Opener

Arlington High School used stellar goaltending to earn an 11-10 preliminary round victory over Tewksbury.

Arlington High School was under major pressure for host Tewksbury on Tuesday in the opening round of the East Division 2 boys lacrosse postseason. Luckily for the Spy Ponders, they have Harrison Durant.

The Arlington goalie made several sparkling saves, including a sprawling kick save, that helped preserve an 11-10 win that allowed the locals to advance to take on Wayland in the bracket's first round.

"That was the scouting report I had. Defensively, they said the goalie just stands on his head some games and that was the case today," said Tewksbury head coach Joe Ginsburg. "He stood on his head, made some saves with his feet. I think every part of his body made a save."

After the win, Arlington is next scheduled to play on Friday. Face off comes at 5 p.m. in Wayland for that game. The winner takes on Beverly or North Andover in the quarterfinal round.

"Harrison is our rock and he's been our rock since I've been here," said Spy Ponder head coach Paul Ganley. "He's really an amazing goalie."
