Celebrating over 90 years of excellence in fashion education, The School of Fashion Design is the only educational institution in New England dedicated exclusively to the study of fashion design. SFD provides students with a solid foundation in apparel design and construction, and the skills required for a successful career in fashion. Our technical Certificate program is taught by experts in the field of fashion design. Students may take courses toward the Certificate or on a class-by-class basis to fill professional education interests. For creatives and textile arts enthusiasts, SFD offers workshops in various fiber arts such as weaving, lace making, embroidery, millinery, upcycling, and more. As an SFD student, you will join a diverse community of emerging designers. Our studios are filled with recent high school graduates, students from nearby colleges enriching their education with fashion, and working professionals embarking on a new career path. SFD faculty and students are active partners in our local community, collaborating regularly with organizations and businesses through internships, exhibitions, field trips, and special events. Our reputation for excellence is on display each time our students show their work at fashion shows and exhibits throughout the year. With an SFD Certificate in Fashion Design, our alumni have enjoyed fashion careers with Adidas, Coldwater Creek, J. Jill, New Balance, PUMA, Ralph Lauren, Talbots, Timberland, TJX Companies, and more. Our alumni are designers and costumers for stage and screen, while others have found success launching their own label. Massachusetts Avenue has reopened after a water main break yesteday morning that shut the street down in both directions for nearly 12 hours. Tuesday morning, a water main break in Arlington Heights caused police and the Department of Public Works to detour traffic between Richardson (by Dunkin' Donuts) and Appleton Street (Video Horizons). Captain Robert Bongiorno of the Arlington Police Department said: "Construction is ongoing, but Mass. Ave. is now open. I don't have a cause, nor do I know if water has been restored." Calls to the Department of Public Works for comment were not returned as of this afternoon.

Lexington Pops Chorus will hold two free open rehearsals September 8th and 15th
at 7:30 p.m. in Clark Hall at Hancock Church, 1912 Massachusetts Ave. Lexington. We invite new singers to join us in September and January, and we especially welcome new tenors. Auditions are not required, but singers must be able to read music. We sing a wide variety of music, including classical, jazz, blues, folk, gospel, Broadway and more.
Our winter concerts scheduled for Friday evening, January 15th, and Sunday afternoon, January 17th, 2027, will feature Johann Sebastian Bach’s Magnificat in D (BWV 243), A Gershwin Portrait, “Satin Doll”, “Lift Every Voice and Sing”, and other selections. Our spring concerts will be on Friday evening, May 21st, and Sunday afternoon, May 23rd, 2027. We often have guest soloists and additional instrumentalists at our concerts.
Lexington Pops Chorus is in its 45th season and enjoys the enthusiasm of singers from over 20 towns. Maxwell Evrard has been the chorus’s Conductor/Director for four years. John Tarrh has been the Assistant Conductor for 12 years. David Owens, Accompanist, is in his 23rd season with the chorus. Lexington Pops Chorus is a member of The Greater Boston Choral Consortium.

On Sunday, September 20th, Sudbury will host our third inaugural <a href="https://kids.pmc.org/sudbury" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Sudbury PMC Kids Bike Ride</a>.&nbsp;Our ride is a 1-mile loop that riders may enjoy as long as they would like. The one mile course is entirely paved and loops through the beautiful residential neighborhoods of historic Sudbury. Parents are welcome to ride with their children but it is not required. If a parent chooses to accompany their child on the bike, we ask that they register as volunteers.&nbsp;
Many kids choose to ride the loop 3-6-12 or even 15 times. We encourage riders to participate as long as they would like. We will have special badges for riders who accomplish 5-8-12 and 15 miles, too! Please indicate at registration an estimate of your rider's total distance (this will help us for event organization).&nbsp;There is also an enclosed parking lot loop all starting from Curtis Middle School in Sudbury, MA. (Adults may opt to register as volunteers if they would like to ride with the kids). Before the ride there will be music and bike decorating; during the ride and following there will be an Ice-Cream Truck, Food Truck, Coffee Truck, huge bouncy castle, lawn games, music and more. All registered riders will get a free ice cream from our friends at Trombetta’s Farm Ice Cream. Registration takes place from 8:30am-9:45am. The ride is from 10:00am-11:30am, and food and games will be available from 10:00am - 1:00pm.
“The Pan-Mass Challenge is a Massachusetts-based bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the country. Always held the first weekend in August, the PMC raises funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a world leader in adult and pediatric cancer treatment and research. Each summer, thousands of riders and volunteers from 43 states and 12 countries participate in the PMC, all with a common goal: to find a cure for cancer.
100 percent of all rider-raised funds go directly to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund. The PMC is Dana-Farber’s single largest supporter and is 62 percent of the Jimmy Fund’s annual revenue. Since 1980, the PMC has raised $972 million for Dana-Farber.”
The Sudbury PMC Kids Bike Ride empowers young participants to contribute to a meaningful cause while enjoying a fun activity. By offering multiple course options, every child will have the opportunity to participate and make a difference - regardless of age or ability. Each ride distance is carefully planned to be safe and enjoyable, with designated routes through historic Sudbury neighborhoods that are well-marked and closely monitored by volunteers. For the youngest participants, the tot lot loop provides a secure environment where kids can ride in a contained area - strollers, scooters, tricycles are ALL welcome!
Beyond the joy of bike riding, the Sudbury PMC Kids Bike Ride serves as a powerful educational experience for children, teaching them about the impact of collective efforts in fighting cancer. As they pedal for a purpose, they learn about empathy, community involvement, and the importance of supporting breakthroughs in treatment and cures at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This event not only raises crucial funds for cancer research but also instills valuable life lessons in the young riders; collectively we all pedal towards a more cancer-free future. As with all PMC rides, every penny donated goes directly to cancer treatment and research at Dana-Farber.
