New Interim Principal at Bishop Elementary

The new principal is expected to start in the fall and will be holding 'meet and greets' over the summer.

There is a new (interim) principal in town.

Steven Silvestri will serve as the interim principal at Bishop Elementary School for the 2010-2011 school year after Steven Carme, who has been the principal for many  years, officially retires over the summer.

According to a release sent by Superintendent, Kathleen Bodie, Silvestri is a retired public elementary school principal with 36 years of experience in education.

Silvestri will officially begin August 23, but he plans to meet with staff and parents before then.

The first of several meetings for parents to meet Silvestri will be held at Bishop on Thursday, July 29 from 7 to 8 p.m. in the library.

"Mr. Silvestri is very interested in having opportunities to meet with parents before school starts," Carme told parents in an e-mail. "We realize that many families are on vacation in July, so additional meeting opportunities will be scheduled later in August."
