Open Meeting Law Complaint Against Arlington Selectmen

Arlington Town Manager said he's unsure what this is all about.

ARLINGTON, MA — A town resident filed an Open Meeting Law complaint alleging selectmen did not approve a lawsuit - which he said is part of a local requirement - in connection with the stalled Mugar site development proposal, YourArlington first reported.

In his Feb. 16 complaint to the state Attorney General's Office, Christopher Loreti cites a provision of Arlington's Town Manager Act saying such litigation can be pursued only with approval of the Arlington Board of Selectmen. Loreti alleges that approval never happened.

"[Selectmen] did not discuss the lawsuit in a closed session, nor did they violate the Open Meeting Law. Speaking plainly, it's hard to understand what Mr. Loreti is complaining about or why," Town Manager Adam Chapdelaine told YourArlington Feb. 20 after consulting with Town Counsel.
