THE PEACE ENCAMPMENT HERSTORY PROJECT ANNOUNCES
HeRSToRy HaPPeNiNG!
to take place in Greater Boston, May 8 - 10, 2015

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (April 13, 2015) - T

“HeRSToRy HaPPeNiNG,” is Mother’s Day weekend-long celebration including a Videofest and exhibit.

Founded in 2005, PeHP is a collection of oral herstories, songs, images, and articles from the Women’s Encampment for a Future of Peace and Justice (1982-2006), an all-women’s community of nonviolent protest established adjacent to the Seneca Army Depot in Romulus, New York.

“The peace encampment touched so many of our lives,” says PeHP Co-Founder Estelle Coleman. “Our stories of peaceful resistance are a lullaby and a rallying cry to our children’s children and their children - we worked toward a world without poverty, without violence, without war.”

The PeHP collection of 112 oral herstories and thousands of documents includes hundreds of photographs and videos from the Women’s Video Collective (WVC), an organization that sprang from the Somerville, MA Producers Group to document the encampment in 1983.

Festivities begin Friday, May 8 with a reception from 3-5:30pm at Schlesinger’s Radcliffe Room, 3 James St., Cambridge.
