Police Log: Break-ins and Identity Thefts

Monday, August 16

Break-ins on Broadway

1 p.m. – The owner of ZipWall on Broadway reported that a storage unit had been broken into overnight and a 17-inch LCD television and other electronics had been taken. Later in the day, at 2 p.m., Visiting Nurses and Community Health on Broadway reported that an office door had been pried open overnight but nothing had been taken. Police believe the incidents are connected and are investigating.

Credit Card Fraud

1:10 p.m. – A Drake Road resident reported that $1,400 in fraudulent charges had been made on her MasterCard at Front Gate Tickets, a ticket agency, in Austin, Texas. She cancelled her credit cards, and police provided her with an identity theft information packet.

Tuesday, August 17

Barber Shop Break-in

4:20 a.m. – Police responded to Susan's Barber Shop on Massachusetts Avenue for a report of a break-in. There, it appeared someone broke a window and stole a 32-inch flat-screen TV. The incident is under investigation.

Arrest

10:50 p.m. – Jeanne M. McNulty, 41, of Patrick Street, was arrested for violating a restraining order, intimidating a witness and simple assault and battery as the result of a domestic incident.

Wednesday, August 18

Bicycle Crash

10:50 a.m. – A cyclist on the Minuteman Bikeway near Lake Street was transported to Somerville Hospital with head and neck injuries after a collision with a girl. According to police, the girl entered the path without looking and was struck by the biker, who was traveling east. The girl was uninjured.

Thursday, August 19

Baby Stroller Stolen

10:35 a.m. – The store manager at Wild Child on Massachusetts Avenue reported that someone had stolen a double City Mini stroller valued at $400.

$400,000 in Fraudulent Charges

10:40 a.m. – A Mystic Avenue resident reported that someone forged his name on a $400,000 mortgage. The man, who believes he knows who the culprit is, has hired an attorney. The case is being handled by Arlington's Criminal Investigation Bureau.

House Invasion

4:15 p.m. – The owner of a Summer Street residence said someone broke into the home during the day and stole two laptops, valued at $2,500 combined, and a backpack. Police believe the thief entered the home through a cut screen in a basement window.
