Shoplifting

An employee at the on Massachusetts Avenue told police Friday she believed a man shoplifted urinary pain relief pills at about 9:55 a.m.

Police said the license plate number of the suspect, given by the employee, didn’t match the vehicle description. The pills sell for $10.99.

Assault and Battery on a Firefighter

Police arrested a 59-year-old Arlington man Friday after he allegedly struck a local firefighter with his van.

Leo Najarian, of Varnum Street, approached firefighters at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Windsor Street at about 1:30 p.m. and was agitated that firefighters put snow on the sidewalk in front of his house when they were shoveling out a hydrant, according to the police report.

Firefighters told Najarian, who was allegedly yelling, to leave the area. Najarian then got in his van and hit a firefighter while backing out, according to the report. He then fled the area, police said.

Najarian was located and arrested about an hour later.

Stolen Motor Vehicle

A Drake Road resident reported Friday that his motor vehicle had been stolen.

The resident told police at about 4:15 p.m. that he had let a friend borrow the vehicle the previous night. He said the friend told him that the vehicle had been stolen from Colonial Village overnight.

Police were unable to contact the friend Friday afternoon.

Dispute at Regent Theatre

A manager at the allegedly threw a band member to the ground Saturday night.

The manager believed the musician and another band member had been stealing items from the theater after asking to be let back in to retrieve items that they had left behind at about 11:30 p.m., according to reports.

Police found no stolen property in the band members’ vehicle and advised the musician that he could pursue assault and battery charges against the manager if he wished to do so.
