Police Log: Fire at Reservoir, Fraud Attempt, Car Break-in

Fraud Attempt Almost Costs Resident $4,000

Friday, Feb. 3 at 10:38 a.m. - An Alpine Street resident told someone tried to use her credit card to charge $4,000 the travel website Orbitz. The charge did not go through, police said.

Firefighters Called to Arlington Reservoir

Saturday, Feb. 4 at 12:51 a.m. - were called to the for a report of an outside fire. According to the incident report, officials could see fire and smoke coming from deep within bushes in the area.

Officials noted there were no obvious signs of arson. But because of the location of the fire, a police lieutenant noted the fire was “likely started by youths,” according to the police report.

Car Break-in on Warren Street

Sunday, Feb. 5 at 10:15 p.m. - Police received a report of several stolen items from a car on Warren Street. The victim said someone stole a computer bag, a Canon printer and other small office supplies. The resident told police he was certain the car was locked but there was no damage indicating how the thief entered the vehicle.
