Police Log: Hedge Trimmers Used in Not So Neighborly Dispute

Border Dispute

9:05 a.m. – A Ronald Road woman reportedly hit a female neighbor with hedge trimmers, causing lacerations to her hands, after the neighbor allegedly soaked with her with a garden hose, according to police.

The woman was trimming hedges on her neighbor's side of the fence, which she believes is still her property, when the neighbor allegedly approached her and sprayed her with the hose. The woman then began swinging the hedge trimmers, police said, and struck the neighbor's hands as she was trying to defend herself.

The neighbor was taken to Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge with lacerations. A criminal complaint for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon was filed against the woman.

Vending Machine Theft

8:35 a.m. – A Recreation Department employee reported that someone broke into the snack bar at Reservoir Beach overnight and stole an undetermined amount of money from three vending machines.

Arrest

9:45 a.m. – James Williams, 22, of Sylvia Street, was arrested for domestic assault and battery after an incident in a motor vehicle on Lockeland Avenue.

4:47 p.m. – Michael Tiernan, 37, of Medford, was arrested for violation of an abuse prevention order.

Home Break-in

1:48 a.m. – Police responded to a Beck Road residence where a woman reported that a man cut open a screen window, reached his hand in and stole a pocketbook off of a table. The woman was awake at the time and observed the incident.
