Police Log: Sexual Assault Under Investigation, Several Properties Vandalized

Police Investigating Sexual Assault

are investigating a report of a possible sexual assault referred by the Cambridge Police Department.

Arlington Police Department Capt. Richard Flynn said the report came in around midnight on Thursday for an assault that would have happened earlier that day.

Flynn said the Cambridge police officials were at Mt. Auburn Hospital with the victim. The case remains under investigation, he added.

Flynn said the case was an isolated assault and there is no cause for public concern at this time.

Bank Tagged Over Weekend

On Friday afternoon, a employee reported the building was tagged at some point during the night. The damage consisted of an “illegible moniker in white spray paint” on the building’s Mt. Vernon Street side, according to the report.

Car Damage on Newcomb Street

On Sunday morning, police were called to Newcomb Street for a report damage to a motor vehicle. The Subaru Outback wagon’s rear hatch window had been shattered while the vehicle was parked in the driveway. The owner said nothing appeared to be missing.

Basement Window Broken

On Sunday afternoon, a Decatur Street resident told police one of her basement windows had a hole punched through the glass. Police noted the semi-circular hole was about two inches in diameter, punched through a window that faced the front of the home.

Police were unable to determine the cause of the damage but it did not appear to be from an attempted break-in, according to the report.

Front Window Smashed on Claremont Avenue

Police were called to Claremont Avenue on Sunday afternoon for a report of a smashed front door window. According to police, one of the building’s residents had a “fit of rage” and threw a chair at the door, breaking the glass window.
