Police Log: Teen House Sitter Decides to Become Party Host

Teen House Sitter Allegedly Throws Party, Gets Caught

A teenager put in charge of watching a Nourse Street residence allegedly covered all of the home’s walls and windows with trash bags and then threw a party Friday, April 27, instead.

Police responded to the residence at about 12:52 a.m. Saturday after receiving a noise complaint. Once there, police found 15 people in the backyard and throughout the home.

Police said that there were beer cans covering the home’s backyard. There were also “beer cans … thrown throughout every surface of the property,” sticky floors due to split alcohol and dozens of glow sticks scattered on the home’s floor, according to police. The home’s fence had also been spray painted, police said.

The partygoers said that they were invited to the home via social media and did not know who the home’s owner was, police said.

Later, after talking with a neighbor, police determined that the home’s owner was in the Caribbean and that one of the partygoers was the house sitter.

The house sitter received criminal complaints for underage possession of alcohol and malicious destruction of property. Nine other teens received complaints for underage possession of alcohol.

Arlington Man Arrested for Assault and Battery on Ernest Road

Farid Mechoud, 34, of Ernest Road, was arrested for assault and battery at about 1:30 a.m. Monday, April 30, after police responded to an Ernest Road residence for a report of an argument between a male and a female.

Outside Fire at Russell Terrace and Winslow Street

Police responded to the corner of Russell Terrace and Winslow Street at about 7:43 p.m. Sunday, April 29, for a report of bushes on fire. The fire had already been extinguished by a nearby resident with a hose, police said. Witnesses told police that two men in their 30s fled the area in a white Chevy pickup.

Drunk Teen Allegedly Spits in Officer’s Face

A 16-year-old male was arrested at about 1:20 a.m. Sunday, April 29, for underage possession of alcohol and assault and battery on a police officer.

The teen was the passenger of a car that was pulled over on Mystic Street, at Fairview Avenue, after a report that the car was driving erratically.

The driver, the teen’s friend, was cited for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and was released to his parents. The teen’s parents could not be reached, so he was taken into protective custody.

He then became belligerent, according to police, and spit in an officer’s face.

A bottle of Smirnoff watermelon vodka was found in the car, police said.

New Hampshire Woman Arrested on Court Warrant

Heather M. Cash, 34, of Manchester, N.H., was arrested at about 12:35 a.m. Sunday, April 29, on a court warrant after she and another woman had an argument outside of a car on the Route 2 off-ramp at Lake Street.

Cyclist Allegedly Slams Bike on Hood of Car

An angry cyclist, who told police that he was sideswiped twice by a car while riding south on Pleasant Street at about 6:48 p.m. Saturday, April 28, allegedly caught up with the car at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Massachusetts Avenue and threw his bike down on the hood of the car.

The driver told police that he honked at the cyclist on Pleasant Street in order to get him to move over. He said the cyclist yelled at him when he passed, so he gave him the finger. He then said the cyclist starting “acting like a madmen” at the intersection and threw his bike on his car. The driver, who was with one passenger, then attempted to drive away.

Police are seeking a complaint against the cyclist for the damage he caused to the driver’s car.

$600 Bike Stolen at Arlington High School

A male reported at about 6:24 p.m. Friday, April 27, that someone had stolen his $600, blue Marin 24-speed bike from in front of Arlington High School sometime between 3 and 5 p.m. that afternoon. The bike was left unlocked, he said.

Fight Over Missing Beer

Two men allegedly fought in a Milton Street residence at about 4:35 p.m. Friday, April 27, after one man accused the other of stealing one of his beers. The accused had come over to fix a table for the accuser’s girlfriend’s mother. The accuser fell during the altercation and hit his head on a coffee table. He sustained a cut near his right eye but refused medical attention.

The men were told by police that they could seek criminal complaints on their own behalf in court.
