RCN Boston Teams Up With 2015 Boston Comic Con

RCN is First Telecomm Provider to Sponsor the Region's Largest Comic Convention

RCN Boston, a leading provider of Internet, digital TV and phone services, announced today that it is teaming up with the eighth annual Boston Comic Con to help promote the three-day comic convention at the Seaport World Trade Center, July 31 – August 2. RCN Boston is the first telecommunications provider to sponsor Boston Comic Con which is the region’s largest comic industry convention.

RCN Boston will provide system-wide advertisements that will reach 24 communities in the greater Boston area, key demographic regions for Boston Comic Con attendees. “RCN and Boston Comic Con are perfectly matched,” said Jeff Carlson, RCN Boston Vice President and General Manager. “We are both committed to providing our customers the ultimate experience and delivering high quality content. Additionally, RCN customers are big consumers of pop culture and Boston Comic Con is the truly the intersection of pop culture and media.”

Boston Comic Con has grown from a one-day show that attracted an estimated 900 comic book enthusiasts to this year’s estimated attendance of approximately 50,000 people. Also new this year, tickets to Boston Comic Con will only be available online – none will be sold at the door.

“We welcome RCN Boston as one of the first corporate partners of Boston Comic Con,” said Nick Kanieff, co-founder of Boston Comic Con and Framingham resident. “We look forward to RCN Boston’s participation in this year’s convention as they will also help us spread the word about the great things happening at this year’s show.”

Celebrity guests include comic industry icon, 92-year-old Stan Lee, co-creator of Marvel Comics, Gillian Anderson of the X Files, Hayley Atwell who has appeared as Agent Carter in Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger, Billie Piper of “Doctor Who,” Thomas Jane of “The Punisher,” Robin Lord Taylor of the hit television show “Gotham,” Brett Dalton of Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and Elvira, the one and only Mistress of the Dark. Celebrities will participate in panel discussions, Q&As, photo ops, and autograph signings throughout the three-day convention.
